Patient One Fat Soluble Vitamins Complete supplies a diverse antioxidant complex of vitamins A, D, E and K1 and K2, mixed carotenoids, and mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols. This highly absorbable formula provides powerful antioxidant activity, helps to stabilize and optimize cell membranes, including the energy-producing mitochondria, and helps modulate the body's inflammatory response.
Our formula features Vitamin A activity from beta carotene, alpha beta carotene and palmitate. This unique blend of fat-soluble vitamins – including all 8 forms of vitamin E and enhanced with a range of potent carotenoids including astaxanthin, saffron, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin
– supports healthy macular function, promotes healthy skin tone, supports auditory function, promotes healthy bone mineral density, and protects brain and cardiovascular function via multiple mechanisms.
Research
- In a six-month study of 48 healthy young adults who had at least 6 hours of daily near-field screen time exposure, those who consumed lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin showed significant improvement in macular pigment optical density, reduction in eye strain and eye fatigue, and improvements in visual performance measures. A similar study in 28 healthy young adults consuming the three carotenoids showed significant increase in MPOD after 12 weeks compared to placebo.
- A 6-month study investigated the effects of supplementation with lutein and zeaxanthin, along with meso-zeaxanthin (an isomer) on systemic brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and antioxidant capacity, as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-1 beta. Findings showed significant reductions in pro-inflammatory cytokine production and notable increases in BDNF, MPOD and antioxidant capacity. Supplementation with the carotenoids also appeared to alter the relationship in BDNF and IL-1 beta interrupts the inflammatory process that reduces BDNF. According to the researchers, the higher amounts of MPOD and BDNF appear to be responsible for cognitive enhancements such as speed of processing and complex processing, respectively.
- A study involving 90 participants with hypercholesterolemia looked at the effects of tocotrienol supplementation on blood lipids. Each group of 18 participants followed the American Heart Association Step 1 diet, and consumed tocotrienols at either 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg day. The results showed that tocotrienol supplementation of 100 mg per day along with the AHA diet produce notable reductions in serum total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and triglycerides compared with baseline values.
- Lycomato lycopene was shown to reduce post-prandial oxidative stress (oxidized low-density lipoprotein) and inflammation after consuming a high-fat meal.
- One review summarized how optimal levels of vitamins D and K2 support suppression of age-related bone resorption in post-menopausal women. The authors concluded that co-supplementation of both vitamins may be more effective than consuming either one alone to promote healthy bone.
